Salman Khan on Thursday welcomed actor Disha Patani to the cast of his next big project ‘Bharat’ on Instagram. Posting Disha’s photo, the Bajrangi Bhaijaan actor wrote, “Welcome @DishaPatani to the journey of @Bharat_TheFilm :)”
Disha will be seen playing the role of a trapeze artist in the 60s in Ali Abbas Zafar’s upcoming period drama Bharat. An overwhelmed Disha was quick to thank Salman for the announcement adding that she was looking forward to share screen space with him.
While most users complimented the Baaghi 2 actor for sharing screen space with Salman, there were many who took a potshot at her saying her future in Bollywood was now secured. One user wrote, “Wah Disha ki to nikal pari.” Another user wrote, “Ab toh disha ki life full set hai.” One Salman fan thanked him for his choice adding that Disha was a ‘lucky girl.’ One fan said that Bharat will be arguably the best film for Disha.
Director Ali Abbas Zafar plans to pay a tribute to legendary actor Raj Kapoor with the sequence. Revealing more details about the thought behind the role, a source close to the film told Indian Express, “Raj Kapoor is a legend and Mera Naam Joker is one of his most memorable films. Since his younger days, Ali has been a huge fan of him and with Bharat, he wishes to pay an ode to the veteran actor and his fondest memory of Raj Kapoor.”
Disha, for her part, said, “I am very excited to be a part of Bharat. It is like a dream come true to get an opportunity to work with Salman sir. I cannot wait to begin my journey with the entire Bharat team, Atul sir and Ali Abbas sir, whose work I have been a big fan of.”
