They could find 3000 condoms but not missing Najeeb Ahmed: Kanhaiya attacks govt

Former JNU Students’ Union president Kanhaiya Kumar took a dig at the government over the authorities’ failure to find Najeeb Ahmed, who was last seen in the university around 24 days ago, and said, “they could find 3,000 used condoms from the campus but could not trace a missing student”.

According to a report in NDTV, Kumar was speaking at the launch of his book ‘From Bihar to Tihar’ when he took a potshot at the BJP-led NDA government. His dig was aimed at lawmaker Gyandev Ahuja, who had in February said that about 3,000 used condoms could be found on JNU campus every day.

“They had such intelligence, they could count the number of condoms that were being used in JNU but they can’t use that intelligence to find out where is Najeeb after so many days,” said Kumar, who had been jailed earlier this year over sedition charges.

Ahmed, MSc Biotechnology first year student at Jawaharlal Nehru University, went missing on 15 October after he had a brawl allegedly with members of ABVP on the campus on the night of 14 October.

The Delhi police have not been able to trace Ahmed and have announced a reward of Rs 2 lakh for the person who provides any information on the missing JNU student.

Ahmed’s mother and several JNU students had on Sunday staged a protest at India Gate in Delhi against the authorities for not taking firm steps to locate him.

As the agitation intensified, police detained several students and Ahmed’s mother. Najeeb’s sister Sadaf Mosharraf, who was also among those detained by the police, vented her ire at the men in uniform.

Fatima Nafees, Najeeb’s mother, was virtually dragged into a bus by police along with other students when they were on their way to India Gate, triggering criticism from Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal who decided to visit the police station.

Fatima and her daughter Sadaf, were later released.

  1. Loser. Those were found in JNU. How do get this missing fellow from JNU if he has gone to Iraq and Syria? The missing people from Kerala have still not been found.

  2. Is jnu an educational institution where safe sex is taught or a condom factory or a red light institution? Never heard any other institution where such things r found or unexpected things happen. No wonder it’s always in news for every bad reasons n with people doing politics who r unfit to b pupil of JNU.
