It seems Saif Ali Khan’s intervention has worked and the court case by director Abhishek Kapoor against Sara Ali Khan may not proceed on Tuesday.
Reliable sources said that both parties had decided settle the matter outside the court. The fight erupted after Kapoor approached Mumbai High Court last week claiming damages worth Rs 5 crore for allegedly not honouring the terms of her contract. The case was filed by Guy In The Sky Productions Pvt Ltd (company owned by Kapoor).
His plea was heard by a vacation bench of Justice S J Kathawalla and the court posted the matter for a hearing on Friday. The new controversy came as Kedarnath faced uncertainty over legal tussles between Kapoor and Prerna Aroraa of KriArj Entertainment (the film’s producer). Kapoor’s Guy In The Sky Pictures was originally making the movie with KriArj Entertainment, but they parted ways. Later, Ronnie Screwvala and his creative production house RSVP joined hands with Kapoor. This is their second collaboration after Kai Po Che!
Now reports say that Screwvalla and Kapoor on one side while Karan Johar and Rohit Shetty on the other side have started talking to resolve the crisis giving hope that the case which was to be argued in the Mumbai High Court on Tuesday may not proceed.
Kapoor had allege that Sara earlier gave a nod to be available on all the dates throughout the shoot for Kedarnath, which also stars Sushant Singh Rajput. But when the makers informed her that the shooting of Kedarnath will go till May to 5 July, her agent said that she won’t be available in June as she’ll start filming for Ranveer Singh’s Simmba.
Sara and her father Saif Ali Khan had visited Kapoor’s office on Wednesday in a bid to resolve the issue. People familiar with this matter said that Sara could not reject the offer of a lead role when Karan Johar offer her for Simmba since there was complete uncertainty surrounding Kedarnath because of the legal battles between Kapoor and Aroraa.
24-year-old Sara stars in the film opposite Sushant Singh Rajput. In both her photos, released, she can be seen wearing salwar-kameez with bright blue umbrella on a sunny day in the green mountains of Uttarakhand’s Kedarnath.
