Ashish Pandey, the son of former BSP MP, on Thursday surrendered before the Delhi’s Patiala House Court. Pandey was wanted by police for brandishing a pistol at a Delhi’s 5-star hotel earlier this week. The court later sent Pandey to one police remand.
The Delhi Police team, which had visited Pandey’s residence in Lucknow had failed to arrest him after the man went underground. Meanwhile, noose was tightening around the man as the local administration in Lucknow cancelled the licence to all three firearms, owned by him.
On Thursday, Pandey’s lawyers submitted an application before the court for surrender. In his application for the surrender, Pandey claimed that he was wrongly framed in the current FIR, filed at Delhi’s RK Puram Police Station.
The video of Pandey brandishing pistol at a couple ouside Delhi’s Hyatt hotel had gone viral earlier this week. In the video, he seen threatening a couple by brandishing his pistol while hurling abuses at them. He was allegedly upset on being allowed to enter the ladies’ washroom.
He is the son of former BSP MP Rakesh Pandey. His brother is also a BSP MLA in Uttar Pradesh. The incident had taken place on the intervening night of 13 and 14 October.
In the video, Ashish Pandey was seen accompanied by several women and could be seen warning the couple of dire consequences since he belonged to Lucknow. He was stopped by his friends, who manage to get him back in the car. However, Pandey was then informed by his woman friend, speaking in heavily accented English, that the other couple had pointed a middle finger at them in an obscene gesture.
This had prompted him to leave the car once again in a fit of rage. He was then heard warning them of dire consequences. The Delhi Police had reportedly left for Pandey’s house in Lucknow to arrest him before booking him under the Arms Act.
Pandey runs a real estate business in Lucknow is known to frequently visit Delhi for partying with his model friends.
