‘Odd Even formula passes its real test on Monday’

After a successful first two days of Delhi’s ambitious Odd-Even formula, the experiment faced its real test on Monday, when the private offices and schools opened after Christmas/NewYear vacations.

Contrary to the apprehensions in certain quarters, the commuters were largely seen as abiding by the rules. Monday being the day for cars with even number, there were not many cars seen with odd number.

Traffic was reported to be considerably better even at those junctions, which were otherwise notorious for heavy congestion.

Odd-Even formula is the brainchild of Delhi government to curb the rising air pollution in the city.

Here’s how social media users reported about the impact on traffic on the day of its real test.

Speaking to www.jantakareporter.com on Saturday, the Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal had thanked the public and police for making the plan successful.

However, plenty of users took to twitter to highlight how the burden on public transport particularly on metro train services had caused chaos at Delhi’s Rajiv Chowk metro station.
