The Rajasthan High Court on Monday acquitted actor Salman Khan in the black buck and chinkara poaching cases.
The High Court overturned the lower court’s verdict acquitting the Bollywood superstar.
The court said that that there was no evidence to prove that the animals, found dead were shot by Khan’s licensed gun.
The news caused considerable anger among local population of Rajasthan as Bishnoi community staged protests in Jodhpur against Salman Khan’s acquittal in poaching case.
Social media users too reacted with lightening speed with dominating theme being an expression of shock.
Many mocked adding that the animal may have killed itself taking the gun from Salman Khan, others felt that the actor got away because of his celebrity status.
Some Salman fans, however, questioned why their star was being singled out as the favourable verdict affected Saif Ali Khan and Tabu too.
