RTI reply accuses Hema Malini of land grab, got land worth crores for just Rs 70K

An RTI reply has revealed how the state government gave land in Mumbai’s Andheri area worth crores of rupees to the actress-turned politician and BJP MP Hema Malini for just Rs 70,000.

According to an IANS report, the Maharashtra government in December had allotted a prime 2,000-square-metre plot to the BJP Lok Sabha MP in the suburban upmarket Oshiwara area for her proposed dance academy.

But the documents obtained through an RTI reply by activist Anil Galgali, revealed that Hema Malini was allotted the plot worth crores of rupees for a paltry Rs.70,000.

“Not only that, this is the second time Hema Malini has been allotted a prime plot in the Mumbai suburbs. Earlier, in 1997, the (then) Shiv Sena-BJP government had given her a plot of land, but she could not develop it due to CRZ (Coastal Regulation Zone) issues,” Galgali told IANS.

The activist later told ANI that she had been favoured by the government for being a BJP MP.

“I’ve written to Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis about this,” he added.

He claimed that though Hema Malini has not yet returned the earlier plot, the current government has allotted her another plot.

The RTI revelation has prompted the social media users to poke fun at the actress and the saffron party.
