Comedian and actor Kapil Sharma has filed a complaint with Mumbai Police alleging extortion by an entertainment news website. This was after an entertainment news website, Spotboye, released a tape of its editor’s conversation with Kapil.
In his police complaint filed by his legal team, Kapil has alleged that the website in question had colluded with two former personal staff members, who worked him in the past, to publish negative stories about the comedian. He also added that he was also approached by a ‘person.’ who demanded Rs 25 lakh to ‘contain the recently damaging content’ on Kapil published on Spotboye website.

This followed an audio tape of incredibly dramatic phone conversation of Spotboye’s Vicky Lalwani and Kapil was posted on Twitter by Spotboye website. In the video, a man claiming to be Kapil is heard hurling expletives at Vicky including targeting the latter’s mother and daughter.
Lalwani took to his website to share what transpired between him and Kapil on the phone. He wrote, “I, Vickey Lalwani, am in a state of daze. I have spoken to the man who made me and my family smile every minute that he appeared on the small screen. After Kaun Banega Crorepati, we finally had a show which was Appointment Viewing for us, and I am sure for many others too. And then he started failing, incidentally after his mid-air brawl with Sunil Grover on March 16, 2017. We so wanted him to return to his good, old ways. But in fact, he started annoying even the film industry by making them wait for endless hours. There was apparently no remorse, hence no change for the better. And God save me, this evening he abused and threatened me left, right and centre for only reporting the shoots that he has been cancelling, the fact that his film Firangi was bad and the truth that his new show Family Time With Kapil Sharma (FTWKS) is no great shakes.”
Kapil fans on Friday night were shocked see a series of abuse-laden tweets posted from his official Twitter account. The actor had later tweeted clarifying that his account was hacked.
