Angry internet users on Friday demanded the arrest of BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma and Times Now editor Navika Kumar. While Sharma was accused of insulting Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the controversial Times Now anchor faced flak for providing her platform to promote Islamophobia. Hashtag #ArrestNupurSharma has been trending prominently on Twitter since Friday.

A video of Sharma mocking Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) during a TV show has gone viral. In the viral video, Sharma was seen addressing a Muslim panellist as she said, “Shall I start making fun of what’s it written in your Quran?”

Navika remained unmoved and felt no need to interrupt the BJP spokesperson even she continued to insult Prophet Muhammad and Islam.

Angry internet users demanded her arrest and strict action against Navika.

Sharma later tweeted saying that she was receiving death threats. “@CPDelhi please note wholly & solely @zoo_bear is responsible who instead of ‘fact-checking’ peddled a fake-narrative to vitiate the atmosphere, cause communal disharmony & cause communal & targeted hatred against me & my family.”

Navika, who did not react during the TV show when Sharma was making objectionable comments about Islam and Prophet Muhamamd (PBUH), later tweeted in support of the BJP spokesperson as she wrote, “Nobody has the right to threaten anyone. Death threats to @NupurSharmaBJP unacceptable. As a mature democracy debate is essential but crossing the line not ok for anyone.”
