The video of a McDonald’s worker throwing water at a homeless man in Detroit in America after luring him over with a sandwich has gone viral.
McDonald’s has sacked the worker after the vile video of playing cruel trick on a poverty stricken man surfaced online. In the video (above) the worker at the popular fast food giant is shown baiting the elderly man through a drive-thru window.
He is heard saying, “Hey, Willie come here! You want a sandwich? Come on I’m about to give you a sandwich, man.”
“Come on man. I’m about to help you,” he persuades after the homeless person suspects if the worker is indeed serious about his offer for free food.
The worker in question then flashes a packed food at the homeless man while placing a small glass full of water near him.
As the homeless man reaches for the sandwich — while heard uttering “thank God” — the employee heartlessly splashes the water on him to cackling laughter inside the vehicle.
“Why’d you do that?” Willie asks in clear shock and disbelief.
McDonald’s franchise owner Wise Finley announced the employee’s firing on Tuesday while expressing his ‘disgust’ over his employee’s behaviour.
“I am very disturbed by the inappropriate behavior of this employee. “This type of behavior is not tolerated in my organization,” he said in a statement.
He added, “I expect my employees to treat everyone with dignity and respect, and this was unacceptable,” Finley added. “This individual no longer works for my organization.”
The Detroit Free Press reported that a local pastor and others in the area were now working to rehabilitate Willie and help him in any way they can.
Bishop Daryl Harris, pastor of Total Life Christian Ministries, told the pape, “I was outraged — I couldn’t believe it. To use the food that he was asking for to lure him over and assault him in that manner, it was just cruel.”
