Can you believe it? The Simpsons predicted Trump’s victory in 2000

While there may be a debate if Nostradamus actually predicted Donald Trump’s victory as US President, popular cartoon programme The Simpsons had indeed warned us about the billionaire tycoon assuming the office of the White House.

And they did it 16 years ago in one of their programmes.

In the episode ‘Bart to the Future’, broadcast in March 2000, the character Lisa takes the top job and says: ‘We’ve inherited quite a budget crunch from President Trump.’

Dan Greaney, a writer for the Simpsons told The Hollywood Reporter, “It was a warning to America. That just seemed like the logical last stop before hitting bottom. It was pitched because it was consistent with the vision of America going insane.”

London’s Guardian quoted Greany as saying, “We predicted that he would be president back in 2000 – but [Trump] was of course the most absurd placeholder joke name that we could think of at the time, and that’s still true. It’s beyond satire.”
