Muslims from around the world have congratulated the American actress Lindsay Lohan after reports of she embracing Islam emerged.
The 30-year-old actor has deleted all her posts from Instagram and Twitter, where she has nearly 1 crore followers.
On Instagram, the actor’s bio read, “Alaikum Salam’ which is a phrase used to return Islamic greetings Assalamoalaikum, and translated as “and unto you, peace.”
Lohan, as reported by PTI, has been busy wiping out most of her social media accounts in the last few months so that she can start the new year with a clean slate.
It was reported that the actor was “in a period of renewal” and has chosen to clean her timeline with an aim to start a new chapter of her life, reported Femalefirst.
“I am so excited for this new chapter in my life,” Lohan had said.
The actor’s manager Scott Carlsen added, “Lindsay in a period of renewal, and is very excited for what the new year holds.
“We are extremely happy here at team Lohan, thrilled to see everyones reactions over the next year as we have some big projects lined up.”
She had also travelled to Madina, Muslim Holy Place in Saudi Arabia in the recent past before being spotted with a copy of Quran while returning from London.
She had shifted her base to Dubai last year and set up her own production house in the UAE.
She later visited Turkey to volunteer as a refugee advocate. Recounting the backlash she had received the picture of her holding the Quran, she had said, “They crucified me for it in America […] they made me seem like Satan. I was a bad person for holding that Quran.”
