Residents of Balakot have shared their experiences of when the Indian fighter jets carried out its air strikes in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Speaking to BBC, one eye witness, Mohammed Adil, said, “It was around 3 am when we heard a frightening sound. It was as if an earthquake has hit. We couldn’t sleep through the night. 5-10 minutes later, we came to know that an explosion has rocked the area. One of my relatives got injured and his house damaged.”
Another eye witness, Wajid Shah, said, “We heard loud explosions. It was as if someone is firing with rifles. Then, there was silence.”
The first-hand account of the two eye witnesses have conclusively proved the success of the Indian Air Force fight jets that pounded their target in Pakistan’s Balakot on Tuesday morning.
Earlier, Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi had said that this ‘was grave aggression by India against Pakistan.’ He had said, ” This is a violation of LoC and Pakistan has the right to retaliate in self defence.”
Lt Gen (retd) DS Hooda, who spearheaded India’s last surgical strikes in 2016, had praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the Tuesday’s decisive action against Pakistan.
The Indian Air Force jets on Tuesday had carried out unprecedented air strikes on terror camps across the Line of Control in Pakistan occupied Kashmir. According to reports, as many as 12 Mirage 2000 jets took part in the operation that dropped 1000 Kg bombs on terror camps across the LOC at around 3 am on Tuesday, completely destroying it.
-Pakistan has denied the Indian claims adding that its Air Force was able to thwart the Indian operations. Congress President Rahul Gandhi too had tweeted congratulating the Indian Air Force.
