Bullets fired at bus carrying journalists at Rio Olympics

A bus carrying journalists covering Rio Olympics came under gunfire on Wednesday. There are no reports of serious injuries to anyone, say witnesses.

According to New York Post, the bus was making its way from the Games basketball venue to the main Olympic park when two shots hit the vehicle damaging the windows of the vehicle. Flying pieces of glass left two people with minor lacerations.

“We were shot at. I mean we could hear the report of the gun,” said Sherryl “Lee” Michaelson, a retired U.S. air force captain who is working for a basketball publication in Rio.

This is believed to be a part of Rio’s gang war. On Saturday, the violent street crime of the city had seen a bullet hit the equestrian center, missing journalists there by just a few feet.

Officials said that the bullet, on that occasion was allegedly fired by a gang member trying to shoot down a police blimp or drone.
