Barcelona father loses 3-year-old son in terror attack, then travels to mosque to hug Imam

In an unprecedented act of unity, a father, who lost his three-year-old child in the recent Barcelona terror attack, reached out to the local Imam.

Xavier Martinez had lost his son, Xavi Martinez, in the Barcelona as the child became the youngest victim of the terror attack.

The video of Martinez hugging an emotional local Imam Driss Salym has now gone viral after BBC posted it on its website. The act of unity was demonstrated in the Spanish town of Rubi, near Barcelona.

The grieving father’s act had left the Imam utterly moved and he could not hold his tears as he cried uncontrollably.

On 17 August, a driver had deliberately ploughed a van into pedestrians on one of Spain’s busiest streets today, killing at least 13 people and wounding over 40 in what police said was a “terrorist attack”.
