West Indies on Sunday defeated India by eight wickets in the first One Day International played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The visitors achieved the target with 2.1 overs to spare.
Batting first, India had made 287/8 in 50 overs with Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant scoring 70 and 71 respectively. Skipper Virat Kohli disappointed his fans by getting out for just four.
West Indies had little trouble achieving the target as opening batsman Shai Hope played one of the best innings of his career and carried the bat by playing a knock of 102 runs. Shimron Hetmyer was another centurion as he made 139 runs in just 106 balls. His knock included 7 sixes and 11 fours.
Deepak Chahar and Mohammed Shami were the only successful Indian bowlers as they both shared one wicket each.
India had won the T20 International series 2-1.
