Shane Watson was a dejected man on Sunday after he failed to ensure a win for his team Chennai Super Kings despite playing a valiant knock of 80 that included four sixes and eight fours. Mumbai Indians went on to win the final by just one run. Had Watson not run himself out in the last over, Chennai Super Kings was on course to win the match comfortably since the Australian all-rounder had just scored 20 runs in a single over when he hit three sixes off Krunal Pandya’s bowling.
Two days later, it emerged just how much pain Shane Watson had gone through to take his team to a near win. His teammate Harbhajan Singh shared a photo of his blood soaked trouser while hitting the ball outside the ground and wrote on Instagram, “Respect brother ✊ what a LEGEND @srwatson33 given sweat, blood and everything for the team.. INSPIRING.”
Harbhajan’s Instagram story said that Shane Watson had received six stitches after the match. He wrote, “Can you guys see the blood on his knee.. He got 6 stitches after the game..Got injured while diving but continue to bat without telling anyone.”
Watson’s team Chennai Super Kings too shared photos of his heroics with a caption ‘WHAT DEDICATION?! THIS IS GOD LEVEL! You are one of a kind, champ!”

Watson suffered an injury to his knee in the 13th over and he continued to bat until the last over while taking his team to a near win. This truly makes him a rare breed of cricketer.
