Times Now’s editor-in-chief, Arnab Goswami may be provided Y category security cover by the central government following an alleged threat from Pakistan-based terror groups, reported Hindustan Times.

The controversial anchor has always been accused of toeing the agenda of the RSS and the Centre’s BJP government.

He has also earned plenty of flak from his critics for throwing the objectivity out of the window while shouting anyone who disagrees with him in the studio down.

Prior to Goswami, three other journalists have been provided security cover by the central government. They are Zee News’ editor, Sudhir Chaudhary, who was given X category cover with four guards, Samachar Plus’ Umesh Kumar (’Y’ category) and Ashwini Kumar Chopra (’Z Plus’ category).

Under the Y category security cover, Goswami will have 20 guards protecting him all the time.

The news of Goswami being considered for Y category security cover did not go down well with his critics on social media platforms.

His detractors, predominantly in Congress party, launched hashtag #TommyGetsSecurity casting aspersion on Times Now anchor. The hashtag became a top trend in no time and was trending at number three across India at the time of writing this report.
