Odia daily carries Rajdeep Sardesai’s sketch as terror suspect


In a shocking development, an Odia daily has carried the sketch of veteran journalist, Rajdeep Sardesai, as one of five suspects spotted near a naval base in Maharashtra’s Uran.

The sketch featured on the front page of Odia daily, Sambad, reported newsfast website.

The skecth of five suspects released by Maharashtra government doesn’t include the one carried by Odia daily. It’s not clear yet as to who in the Odia daily decided to include the veteran journalist’s sketch as a suspect.

Rajdeep took to Twitter to express his disgust. His tweet read, “Just saw a Odhiya newspaper Sambad puts up my sketch as a terror suspect based on RW Twitter gang mischief.If not war, these guys will kill! Photo shopped pics,lies,fake reporting, abuse: what next will this bhakt army stoop to on Twitter? And who will call their diabolical bluff? (sic)”

The newspaper apologised for its ‘grave error. Rajdeep, though accepted the apology, he told the paper to carry their apology with same prominence in Saturday’s edition.

He wrote, “Apology accepted but expect it with the same prominence on your front page Tomw. And start a refresher course.”

A high alert was sounded along the Mumbai coast and adjoining areas on Thursday after a group of men were spotted moving suspiciously near a naval base at Uran in Raigad district, leading to multi-agency search operations by multiple agencies.
