Shivshankar is Arnab’s former colleague and has worked under him at Times Now. He’s currently heading News X, a rival channel, which has struggled to make its mark with TRPs.
He had joined NewsX in 2013 as the managing editor and was made made the editor-in-chief of the channel in August 2014 following the sudden death of Jahangir Pocha.
In his new role, Shivshankar will be expected to present the Times Now’s flagship debate programme, New Hour, whose success has been a key factor for the channel’s to remain number one English news channel for several years.
Janta Ka Reporter had exclusively reported on 1 November about Arnab’s resignation from Times Now.
Arnab had made this announcement in a specially convened meet, which he attended through video conferencing from Mumbai.
According to reports, Arnab may still be in charge till December. The Times Group has not made any statement yet.
Nobody knows yet about his future move but there have been rumours that Arnab may launch his own channel with the support of top corporate houses owing allegiance to the Centre’s BJP government.
Here’s how social media users have reacted on this news;
The Nation has an answer : Rahul Shivshankar it is! Congratulations!!! Newshour will be worth watching once again.

Rahul Shivshankar replacing Arnab Goswami is like Saha replacing Dhoni. Arnab is irreplaceable and @vineetjaintimes is a sore loser
