After a tough ODI series where they endured a 3-0 whitewash, Zimbabwe have beaten India by 10 runs in the second and last T20I at Harare to draw the series 1-1.
After electing to bat first, Zimbabwe failed to capitalise on a good start provided by opener Chamu Chibhabha (67 off 51 balls). At one point, the hosts were cruising at 85/3 in 11.1 overs, well set for a total over 150.
However, two crucial blows from Bhuvneshwar Kumar towards the end of the Zimbabwean innings ensured India restricted the hosts to 145/7 at the end of their allotted 20 overs. Bhuvneshwar ended with impressive figures of 2/26 in 4 overs.
In reply, India got off to a flying start and were well poised to win the match after getting 57 off the first six mandatory powerplay overs.
However, what followed was inspired bowling from legbreak bowler Graeme Cremer (3/18) as he removed both Murali Vijay (13) and Manish Pandey (0) in the same over after the powerplay.
Wickets kept tumbling for India and in the last over, they were left with a daunting task of scoring 19 more runs with just one more batsmen left waiting in the pavilion.
In the end, India fell short by 10 runs, handing Zimbabwe a much-needed confidence-booster after a dismal series.
Chibhabha was awared Man of the Match for his knock of 67 at the top of the order.
