Congress vice president on Tuesday launched a scathing attack against Prime Minister Narendra Modi accusing him of spreading anger ‘between people,’ dividing Hindus and Muslims and ignoring the interests of farmers.
Addressing a rally in Thiruvananthapuram, the Congress VP said, “Modi ji came to power in 2014 elections by spreading anger between different people of country. He (PM Modi) divided Hindus and Muslims and created anger in the country.”
Taking a dig at Modi for allegedly ignoring interests of farmers, Rahul said, “Farmers are committing suicide, they do not know what to do. You will never see a photograph of our PM holding hands of farmers or talking to farmers.
“Congress ideology is about bringing people together and creating peace and harmony. You cannot ignore the corporates but you cannot also ignore the farmers and the poor. All our leaders and workers understand that you have to create a balance between economic growth and helping the poor people.”
He also blamed the prime minister for reneging on his election promises by reminding him about his commitment to bring back the black money stashed in foreign banks.
He said, “PM Modi made tremendous promises to ppl of country. He mentioned every single Indian will be given 15 lakhs. PM Modi told farmers of country that they will be protected, But moment he took power all those promises were forgotten.”
Kerala, which goes to crucial polls in next few months, is currently being ruled by the Congress-led United Democratic Front. The BJP, which has never done well in this south Indian state, is desperately making attempts to make electoral gains in the forthcoming elections.
The state has had the tradition of having governments run by the UDF and the Left-led alliance LDF every five years.
