Police in Mumbai have arrested a man allegedly molesting a 22-year-old woman during the IPL match on 14 April at the Wankhede Stadium.
According to the news agency PTI, a senior police official said that this incident took place on Saturday evening during the match between Delhi Daredevils and Mumbai Indians.
The officer said, “The victim complained that Balraj Dadulal Satnami, who distributed the water in the stadium, touched her improperly. The policemen present in the stadium caught Satnami after being reached out for help.”
According to the complaint, the woman was sitting in her enclosure with her students when Satnami approached her with water. The woman said that she declined his offer, but he kept insisting. The man then came close to her and touched her inappropriately forcing the woman to shout.
Alarmed by the woman’s shouting, the man ran away from the scene. She then approached the cops, who were finally able to catch the culprit.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Manoj Kumar Sharma, said that an FIR had been lodged in the case and the accused had been arrested under Section 354 (A) of the FIR related to sexual harassment. He had been sent to police custody for two days.
