Woman killed, 2 BSF jawans injured in Pakistan firing in Jammu ahead of PM’s visit

In fresh ceasefire violation, a woman was killed and two Border Security Force jawans were injured when Pakistan Rangers started unprovoked firing from across the border in Jammu.

The incident comes just two days before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to the state of J&K.

“Pakistan Rangers started unprovoked firing at Molu post of the BSF in Akhnoor sector today morning,” a senior police officer said.

“One BSF trooper was injured in the firing which started at 8:55 am. BSF has retaliated using small arms and automatics,” he said.

“Heavy firing exchanges are still going on between India and Pakistan troops on two border posts in Akhnoor sector,” the officer added.

Pakistan troops have frequently violated the bilateral ceasefire along LoC in recent months each time a leader from the Centre visits the state.
