Come 1 January and you will not be able to access WhatsApp on your phones if they happen to be of certain models as the world’s most popular messaging App on certain operating systems.
They include certain models of BlackBerry, Microsoft Windows and Nokia.
A blog by WhatsApp said that devices nearing end-of-life timelines such as BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10, Windows Phone 8.0 and older devices and Nokia S40 will not be able to use WhatsApp properly after after 31 December, 2017.
“Because we will no longer actively develop for these platforms, some features may stop functioning at any time,” said the blog.
The company’s blog post added, “While these mobile devices have been an important part of our story, they don’t offer the kind of capabilities we need to expand our app’s features in the future.”
Android OS version 2.3.7 and older will stop also functioning correctly after 1 February 2020.
