Virat Kohli on Sunday surpassed Australia’s Ricky Ponting when he scores his 31st One Day International century against New Zealand in his 200th match. Ponting had achieved this feat in 325 ODIs.
He now has second highest number of ODI centuries after Sachin Tendulkar, who has 49 tons in 463 matches.
Also, when Kohli went past 1000 ODI runs against New Zealand, he became the 6th Indian and 27th overall to have scored 1000 ODI runs against the Kiwis. Also, this is the 4th country against whom Kohli has accumulated 1000 runs in ODIs. Sri Lanka, West Indies and Australia are the other three.
Kohli was caught by Trent Boult off Tim Southee at 121 while trying to hit his third consecutive six in the last over of the match.
