In a stunning revelation, BJP MP Varun Gandhi has said that he was called by the PMO and asked why he was increasing ‘our troubles.’ The MP from Sultanpur, according to news agency PTI, made the revelation while speaking at a programme in Model Women’s College in Bhiwani.

The news agency quoting him as saying, “I repeatedly raise my voice about the increase in salaries of MPs and not giving details of their assets. Employees of every sector get increase in their wages based on hard work and honesty. But in the last 10 years, MPs have increased their salaries seven times just by raising their hands.”
Gandhi, who enjoys considerable popularity among his constituents in Sultanpur, said he received a call from the PMO when he raised the issue of the increase in MPs’ salary one. He was asked, “Why are you increasing our troubles?”
He also targeted the misplaced priorities of the Uttar Pradesh government headed by his own party, the BJP. He said, “In Uttar Pradesh schools, except studies, all programs are held. Religious and marriage functions are organised, after funeral, the rituals are completed on its premises. Children play cricket and leaders deliver speeches in schools.”
Varun Gandhi’s mother, Maneka Gandhi, is a union minister in the cabinet of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He was widely tipped to be the chief ministerial face of Uttar Pradesh, but he he was ignored at the behest of Amit Shah, who after becoming the national president of the party, had removed him from the post of the BJP’s general secretary.
