The minister of state external affairs and the former army chief General VK Singh sparked a fresh controversy by saying that “earlier authors attended Hindi Sammelan only to drink and eat.”
The 10th World Hindi Conference, which will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is being organized from 10-12 September in Bhopal by the Ministry of External Affairs in partnership with the government of Madhya Pradesh. The main theme of the Conference is ‘Hindi Jagat: Vistar avm sambhavnai’.

Singh, whose ministry is organizing the event said that this time no such authors would be invited who attend such event for food and read their work after consuming liquor.
Singh is not new to controversy. His comments earlier this calling India pressrtitutes, a term used to suggest that journalists can sell themselves for money, had caused huge furore among media fraternity. He later apologised saying his jibe was only meant for a small section of the media as they ‘deserved that word.”
