Communal tension in Muzaffarnagar over rape of 5-year-old girl


The rape of a minor girl in Mujahidpur village in Muzaffarnagar has led to heightened tension between two communities, prompting the police to tighten the security of the area.

A 5-year-old girl was allegedly raped and severely injured in Mujahidpur village on November 18 by Ankit (20), police said.

Villagers had gheraoed the police station earlier over the incident and demanded the immediate arrest of the absconding accused.

Additional officers have been deployed in the area in light of the tension between the two communities, police said.

Meanwhile, the minor victim is still in critical condition.

A case under IPC section 376 (rape) and POCSO Act was registered against the accused, police added.
