There was tension in a village in Uttar Pradesh after a minor girl accused an army jawan of allegedly raping her. Based on the girl’s complaint, the local police have booked the army jawan, who’s currently absconding.
Before the girl and her family filed the police complaint, the two family had reportedly clashed forcing the 23-year-old soldier to lock his house and flee the village with his family members.
A report by Indian Express said that the cops had filed an FIR was lodged against the jawan under IPC sections 376 (rape), 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), 506 (criminal intimidation) as well as the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The accused’s father, younger brother and other relatives were also booked under the same IPC sections except rape, the report added. The girl’s medical examination was conducted on Monday and the report is awaited.
The accused jawan had arrived in the village in Bareilly since his marriage was fixed for 22 June. The girl, who is aged 15, had reportedly gone to the field the fields on Saturday afternoon when she alleged that the jawan dragged her to another field and raped her.
However, quoting some villagers, local police said that the girl was in a relationship for over a year. Even the local village head, one Banne Khan, was quoted as saying, “The girl’s family has framed the jawan in a false case to extort money. Everyone in the village knows that the allegations are false. We never heard of the love affair. We have told police that the allegations appear to be false.”
