UP government announces Rs 10 lakh help for family of Meerut jawan, who died saving girl


Uttar Pradesh government has announced a financial help of Rs 10 lakh for the family of army soldier, who lost his life saving a girl from eve-teasers in Meerut on Thursday.

Vadmitra Chowdhary was on his way to a booth to buy milk, when he saw a group of five eve-teasers harassing the booth owner’s teenage daughter. Chowdhary , immediately rushed to her rescue and beat up the tormenters.

The eve teasers then called their local goons for help. They arrived armed with iron rods and beat the jawan mercilessly.

He was immediately rushed to Meerut Military hospital, but could not be saved due to excessive bleeding.

The milk-booth owner told the police that his daughter had come to the booth to serve them tea when few eve teasers started troubling her.

Hearing her screams, the jawan, who was at his shop, ran for her help. An FIR has been registered against four identified and five unidentified men. Police have already arrested three criminals namely Akash, Sanju and Ritesh.

They have been booked on charges of murder. The deceased serviceman was a native of Titoli village near Shamli. He was serving in the 58 Engineers Regiment and was posted at HQ 416 Engineers Brigade camp at Meerut.
