How Twitter’s ‘History’ account is providing laughter medicine to Indians

Laughter, they say, is the best medicine, but social media platform is among one of the unlikeliest places you would find this in abundance.

When social media is increasingly becoming a platform to be used as a powerful tool to spread hatred, one twitter handle is proving to be the much-needed laughter therapy.

Such is its popularity that, in relatively short time, this account has amassed close to 30,000 followers. People who follow this account include India’s prime minister, Narendra Modi, Delhi chief minister, Arvind Kejriwal, former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah and several other powerful twitter celebrities.

The twitter handle @RealHistoryPic takes a dig at politicians and celebrities of all hues in a distinctively unique style.

Inspired by @HistoryInPics, which is known to post photos from the history on all topics, the twitter handle @RealHistoryPic, takes sarcastic dig at the people in news today by adding imaginary historical perspective.

The owner of the account has impressive knowledge about history and current affairs affecting not just India but countries around the world. One of the reasons why its posts often bring smile on your face or causes even laughter riots is how it finds historical resemblance to the objects of its posts.

The bio of its twitter page reads, “History happens twice because people don’t listen at first time | Sarcasm | Unreal | Unbiased | Equal Opportunity Offender |( sic)”

So here are some of its tweets.  You are guaranteed to have a laughter-filled time ahead!
