&TV on Monday decided to ride on the popularity crest of TV actor Shilpa Shinde after she was crowned the new winner of the reality show, Bigg Boss.
The channel on Monday broadcast an old episode of Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hain with Shilpa playing the role of Angoori Bhabhi. Shilpa was the original Angoori Bhabhi until she was unceremoniously dropped from the show by its producers. One of the producers of the show was Vikaps Gupta, who had entered the reality show along with Shilpa.
Shilpa had even filed a case of sexual harassment, but the TV producers association had imposed a life ban on her blaming the actor for leaving the show. &TV had then replaced Shinde for Angoori Bhabi’s role with another Marathi actor Shubhangi Atre.
Shilpa’s latest interview with the news agency IANS shows she hasn’t forgotten about her unpleasant past. The actor told the news agency that she had decided never to act in TV again.
“I would rather explore the medium of films than television. After working for so many years, the way few people of the industry (referring to the producers of Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai!) treated me, I am disheartened. I do not wish to work in the TV industry anymore,” Shilpa was quoted by IANS.
She added, “It is tough for an actress to raise her voice on sexual harassment because the chances are they will question your character, they will ruin your career and they will defeat you in the power game. So one has to be very strong to fight against these white collar mafias.”
Elsewhere, Shilpa also reportedly said that Salman Khan had offered her legal help even though all her pending cases had been resolved. She said that Salman asked her contact him whenever she faced any problem adding that even during her controversy involving &TV show, she was advised by some to contact the Tiger Zina Hai actor.
“When I was facing problems and was not allowed to work on TV people told me to go and meet Salman as he helps people. But that time who ever knew Salman behaved like a big superstar (laughs). During that period, I realized how people try to misuse their position and especially if you are a girl,” she told Times Of India.
Salma is also reported to have told Shilpa that Vikas was not responsible for her ouster from Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hain.
