Three people belonging to same family were found murdered at their residence in central Delhi’s Old Rajinder Nagar area today.

The victims have been identified as Sanjay (50), his wife Jyoti (48) and their son Pawan (21).

“A triple murder has taken place in which Sanjay, his wife and their son have been strangulated. We are looking for the reason behind the murder.

“There is a possibility that they were murdered last evening and the information was received today morning. The house was ransacked so we are taking this angle into consideration,” S K Gautam, Joint Commissioner of Police (Central Range), was quoted by PTI.

Preliminary investigation has hinted a suspected role of someone known to the family, though the accused are yet to be identified. The police haven’t ruled out possibility of property dispute as a motive behind the incident.

The matter came to light on Sunday morning at 8.50 AM, when the domestic help found the bodies of Jyoti and Pawan in the apartment. Soon, the police was informed and a team was rushed to the spot.

The police team, which couldn’t find Sanjay, began to deem him the suspect in the  double murder. But, a thorough search of the house led them to discover the dead body of Sanjay too. His body was stuffed inside a closet.

Since Sanjay dealt in properties, police are not ruling out a property dispute as the prime motive behind these triple murders.
