The third Test between India and Australia, being played in Ranchi, has ended in a draw. It was after the hosts failed to get Aussies all out in their second innings.
Cheteshwar Pujara was declared Man of The Match for his gutsy double hundred in the first innings.
Australia were 204/6 as the match ended in a draw. Replying to Australia’s first innings total of 451, India had declared their innings at 603/9.
Indian bowlers had taken four early wickets when the visitors came to bat in their second innings on Monday but thanks to the combative knocks by Peter Handscomb and Shaun Marsh that put paid to India’s hopes of registering a win.
Marsh scored 53 but faced 197 deliveries in the process, while Handscomb faced 200 balls to score his 72 runs.
The series is currently levelled 1-1. The next Test scheduled to be held in Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh.
Speaking to Sanjay Manjrekar after the match, Marsh said, “I wouldn’t say I was comfortable. I stuck to my plans and it worked today. We are really happy with the results we got today.”
Handscomb said that it was tough batting condition in the second innings.
He said, “As Shaun said we are pleased with the results we wanted. Look forward to the game in Dharamshala.”
Both the batsmen had come to the crease when Australia were down 63 for four. Handscomb said that they decided to ‘back their abilities’ and result will come their way.
