Batting first, Australia had set a target of 231 in 50 overs after the Indian bowlers restricted the hosts to 230 all out in 48.4 overs. Yuzvendra Chahal was the pick of Indian bowler as he finished 6 for 42 in his quota of 10 overs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami scalped two wickets a piece.

Former India great Sachin Tendulkar was full of praises for Chahal as he tweeted, “The guile with which @yuzi_chahal has bowled today has been beautiful. He has tricked the batsmen and set them up to play shots he wanted them to play. A well deserved 6 wicket haul. Trump card selection!”

Indian batsmen didn’t have to struggle to achieve what was an easy target. With Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav remaining not out at 87 and 61 respectively, India pulled off the target in 49.2 overs.

Former Australian all-rounder Tom Moody reacted to India’s victory by calling Dhoni ‘run chase master.’ Dhoni was declared Man Of The Series.

Speaking after the match, Indian captain Virat Kohli said, “We are very happy with this tour, as a team we did our best in all three series. As a captain, I am very happy because the team has given a balanced performance which is a good sign ahead of the World Cup.”

After winning the first ODI, India had defeated Australia in Sydney by six wickets in the second ODI earlier this week in the last over thriller. Dhona was again the finisher in that match as he remained not out at 55.
