A cab driver in Hyderabad has allegedly stabbed his friend to death after he claimed to have caught him of peeping into his mother’s washroom as she bathed some time last month.
Police said that the cab driver, who committed the crime in Hyderabad’s Serlingampally area, later surrendered before them. The accused, identified as R Sampath, slit the throat of his 23-year-old friend after they had a couple of drinks on Sunday night, a report by PTI quoted police as saying.
Though the victim’s brother rushed him to a hospital on being informed of the incident, he succumbed to his injuries, police said.
The man told police that he had caught his friend in the act last month, police said.
According to local media reports, Sampath and his victim, identified as Ajay, were friends. A photographer by profession. Ajay lived in Serilingampally with his parents and elder brother. He also worked a part-time car driver.
Samapth, on the other hand was a resident of Lingampally. He picked Ajay up at around 3 pm on Sunday from the latter’s friend’s house in Chandanagar. They consumed alcohol near HUDA trade centre in Taranagar before Sampath called two of his friends and with their help, he stabbed Ajay multiple times.
“Ajay used to regularly visit Samapth’s house. Once, Sampath caught Ajay peeping through the bathroom window while his mother was bathing. This was happening for quite some time and about a month ago, Sampath caught Ajay in the act, after which he bore the grudge on Ajay and killed him,” Miyapur assistant commissioner of police S Ravi Kumar was quoted by Deccan Chronicle.
