RJD leader and former deputy chief minister of Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav, on Friday posted a video of a man who he claimed was an army soldier being lynched by a mob in Aurangabad district. Tejashwi slammed Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for the deteriorating law and order and advised him to take a holy dip in the river Ganga if this incident didn’t shake the latter’s conscience.

Tejashwi wrote, “Nitish ji, watch the brutality of your Gundaraj with your naked eyes. An army soldier was brutally thrashed by a mob just few steps away from a local police station. The soldier is fighting for his life now. If your inner conscience still doesn’t wake up, then please take a holy dip in the river Ganga.”

In another tweet, Tejashwi said that the soldier, attacked by a mob, had come home in Aurangabad on vacation. He wrote, “A soldier comes home in Aurangabad on vacation. Criminals thrash him for one hour and nearly kill him. But cops remain mute spectators. Nitish ji, by having an army soldier lynched publicly, what kind of nationalism do you want to bring in with the help of the BJP?”

SP Aurangabad, Satya Prakash, confirmed to Janta Ka Reporter that one person had died after being lynched while the army jawan was being treated in hospital. The SP said, “Yes, this whole case is of 1 May and the matter is being investigated. The case was registered against 10 to 15 unknown people on Thursday (3 May) in Haspura police station and the accused are being identified.”

According to the SP, the jawan’s friend died in the incident. The jawan was admitted to Patna hospital for treatment. His condition is alright now. Allegedly, an incident of robbery took place in the village a few days ago and the villagers suspected that those people were involved in the incident. Thus, they carried out the lynching on the basis of suspicion.

The state administration has not yet commented on the incident. Bihar is currently governed by Nitish Kumar’s JD-U and BJP.
