Akadi Dal leader and Punjab’s deputy chief minister, Sukhbir Singh Badal, summoned by Amritsar Court to appear on 19 May in case of forcible takeover of a shop in Golden temple complex, reports news agency ANI.

Akali Dal’s opponents have often accused the ruling party led by Badal of promoting ‘goondagardi’ in the state.

Not so long ago, the AAP convener and Delhi chief minister, Arvind Kejriwal, had said, “Goondagardi (hooliganism) of Akalis will no more be tolerated in Punjab. We will not bow before under any pressure and Akalis must understand that AAP is not only a wave but a storm to finish them.”

Badals’ political detractors have also accused of using their political clout to further their business interests, an accusation which they aggressively deny.
