Days after Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal sanctioned the prosecution of the BJP leader Subramanian Swamy in connection with an alleged hate speech, the latter has approached the city’s Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung for the same against the former.

Swamy on Thursday wrote to Jung seeking sanction to prosecute Kejriwal under Prevention of Corruption Act alleging that as Chief Minister in his 49 days tenure, he had helped his Aam Aadmi Party receive donation from a private firm by indulging in a quid pro quo arrangement.

According to PTI, Swamy also sought prosecution of Kejriwal’s deputy Manish Sisodia claiming that as Finance Minister in the first AAP government he had also favoured the private firm which was a VAT defaulter.

“During his first tenure as Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal and his then Finance Minister Manish Sisodia had illegally favoured M/s SKN Associates Ltd,” the news agency quoted Swamy’s letter to Jung.

The BJP leader also alleged that the company’s name figured in a list of Value Added Tax defaulters which was released just ten days before Kejriwal had assumed office on December 28, 2013.

Swamy alleged that Kejriwal and Sisodia, instead of trying to recover the dues from the company for the state exchequer, started seeking donation from the tax defaulter for their party.

He said that four subsidiary companies of SKN Associates had allegedly paid a total of Rs 2 crore to AAP, adding that the firm was given various contracts including supply of electrical equipment, air conditioning and LPG and CNG materials.

“This is prima facie a misuse of office and misappropriation of public money and receiving quid pro quo in lieu of favour by Kejriwal and Sisodia for VAT defaulter/ evader. This comes under Sec 13 (1)(D) of Prevention of Corruption Act,” he alleged.

The Delhi government has not yet commented on Swamy’s allegations.
