SpiceJet sacks pilot for allegedly forcing air hostess to sit in cockpit


Indian budget airlines SpiceJet has sacked one of its pilots for allegedly asking an air hostess to sit with him in the cockpit of a Boeing 737 flight.

News agency PTI reported that the incident took place on-board Kolkata-Bangkok flight on 28 February after the pilot repeated his action on the return flight as well.

Various media reports said that the pilot in question had even sent his co-pilot out of  cockpit leaving him alone with the air hostess in the cockpit for considerably long time.

A statement from the SpiceJet said, “The inquiry process (in this case) is on and the statement of all the concerned parties has been recorded. Subsequently, the alleged personnel had been sacked.”

The SpiceJet General Manager (GM) also said that the case had been informed to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) by our Flight Safety department and their inquiry is also underway.
