Amidst the chaos of a disruptive monsoon session in parliament, all but one Congressman’s voice sang the same song.
Shashi Tharoor, in a party meeting, had made it public that he was against the idea of disrupting parliament to demand the ouster of tainted BJP leaders mired in recent corruption scandals.
Congress President Sonia Gandhi is said to have told her leaders to go on the offensive at demanding the resignation of the external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj, Rajasthan chief minister Vausndhara Raje Scindia and Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan.
What they lack in numbers in Lok Sabha, Gandhi is determined to make up with their aggression. They were seen sporting black arm bands as they entered the parliament on Wednesday. The Congress chief is said to have taken strong offence to Tharoor’s alleged public dissent on this matter.
Tharoor had reported said that stalling parliament was nothing but a repeat of BJP’s tactics the party must avoid this as it had very little bearing on the outcome.
To this, the Congress supremo has reportedly chided Tharoor by saying, You always do this” before Rahul Gandhi intervened to make light of the momentby taking Congress leaders outside.
