The motormouth hatemonger union minister in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cabinet, Ram Shankar Katheria, on Sunday had kicked up a storm by brazenly confirming that his HRD Ministry was working towards saffronisation of the Indian education.

A day later, the the Union HRD Minister, Smriti Irani’s deputy, has performed equally brazen U-turn by saying he will accept other colours too.

He told ANI, “I just said whatever is good for the nation, we’ll accept that; whether its Bhagwakaran or green or red color.”

In a programme in Lucknow, Katheria had said that it was time to give respect to Hindu rules from the history in our textbooks and not Chengis Khan, who the junior education minister said was a Muslim ruler.

Addressing a programme on Saturday, Katheria said, “Shiksha mein bhi Bhagwakaran hoga, desh mein bhi Bhagwakaran (saffronisation) hoga.Jo desh ke liye achcha hoga wo zaroor hoga, chahe Bhagwakaran ho ya Sanghwaad ho, kuch bhi ho. (Not just education but the entire country’s saffronisation will take place. Whatever is good for the country will happen. Whether that is saffronisation or spreading the ideology of Sangh). We’ve seen it for far too long. We never accused anybody. But the circumstances have changed now.”
