Actor Shekhar Suman has hit out at BJP’s GVL Narasimha Rao for his remarks branding Bollywood actors people with low IQ.
Suman told Bollywood Hungama, “That’s an idiotic statement to make…Then why did you allow somebody like Smriti Irani or Shatrughan Sinha or Vinod Khanna or Dharmendra or Hema Malini or anybody to join the BJP and canvass for you or campaign for you? Why do you them and why do they become cabinet ministers and hold positions of powers like Smriti Irani is the Information and Broadcasting Minister. Is Mr Narasimha Rao trying to say that she has no IQ?”
Suman’s outbursts came a day after actor Farhan Akhtar slammed Rao, who’s a prominent face of the BJP on Indian TV channels.
Taking to Twitter, Akhtar had said, “How dare you, sir?? @GVLNRAO. And to all film people in his ranks.. here’s what he thinks of you. #shame.”
Speaking on Times Now, while taking part in a debate on the raging Mersal controversy, Rao had said, “In any case, most our film stars have a very low IQ. Very low general knowledge.”
Rao’s party had reacted angrily to the references of GST in the Tamil film Mersal. Times Now was debating the topic with Rao and Congress supporter Tehseen Poonawalla. It was during the debate when Rao made the disparaging observation about Bollywood artists.
Several top Bollywood names are known sympathisers of the BJP and they include Anupam Kher, Amitabh Bachchan, Madhur Bhandarkar, Ashoke Pandit and Ajay Devgn to name a few.
