Six children detained by Uttar Pradesh police after ‘cricket ball hit’ IPS officer


Police in Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad detained six children for five hours because they were found to be playing in its training school ground.

A report by the PTI said that the children were detained for five hours at a police station in Moradabad after the IG posted at the school ordered that they be arrested for using the premises.

The six children were later released but only after being counselled by the cops to stay away from the ground in future.

The children were caught by I.G B R Mina, who is posted at the school, on Friday.

Mina was reportedly unhappy over children playing in the ground and ordered that they be arrested. While some children managed to run away, six of them were caught and sent to civil lines police station for further action.

But a News18 report said that Mina had ordered the arrest of the children a cricket ball hit him.

Inspector Civil Lines Brham Pal Singh said six children were detained on the complaint of the IG P.T.S

ASP (Rural) Moradabad Sujata Singh said that no action was possible against the children as they were juveniles but they were counselled not to come to the P.T.S area as their games were interrupting in the police training.
