At a time when singers such as Sonu Nigam and Abhijeet Bhattacharya have been accused of contributing to vitiating an already fragile communal harmony in India, another Bollywood singer, Shaan, has vowed never to tweet or share any social media posts that divide Indians.
The popular singer tweeted on Thursday, “I pledge not to tweet or retweet anything that Spreads HATE and DIVIDE within us and between us. You could do that too.”

This comes after Nigam came for condemnation for his anti-Muslim tweet criticizing Azaan while referring to Prophet Mohammad(PBUH) using flippancy.
Another former singer, Abhijeet, has earned notoriety for his hatred towards Muslims living in India in the recent past. When reminded about his bigotry, he had resorted to abuses and threats of bodily harm to Janta Ka Reporter’s editor-in-chief, Rifat Jawaid on live TV last year.
Shaan’s tweet promoting communal harmony has earned him plenty of plaudits from social media users most of whom felt that the singer was indirectly taking a dig at Nigam and Bhattacharya. Here are some comments.
