It looked like a plot taken from a popular Bollywood masala film, but the antics by a lover in Maharashtra’s Pimpri Chinchwad has left the city cops angry. This was after a local businessman, put up as many as 300 flex hoardings bearing common message ‘Shivde I’m sorry’ for his angry girlfriend.
The posters were put up in the posh neighbourhood of Pimpri Chinchwad, a town located on the suburbs of Pune, primarily to pacify his girlfriend, who he had fought with. The girl, according to the cops, was scheduled to take the route on her way from Mumbai on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday.
Little did the businessman, identified as Nilesh Khedekar, realise that his act will land him in trouble as the cops have escalated the matter with Pimpri Chinchwad civic body to initiate action as per rules dealing with illegal hoardings and defacement of public property.
News agency PTI quoted a Wakad police official as saying that they launched a probe into the matter as soon as the incident was brought to their notice.
“We managed to zero in on his friend Vilas Shinde who had helped Khedekar get the flex hoardings printed. Through him, we traced Khedekar who is the brain behind this act,” the official was quoted by the news agency.
Shinde said that Khedekar came up with the novel idea after his fight with his girlfriend. “The girl was coming on Friday to the area from Mumbai. Under the cover of darkness in the intervening night of Thursday and Friday, over 300 hoardings were put up on the route which the girl was likely to take,” the official was furtehr quoted as saying.
The civic body has not yet announced what action, if any, would be initiated against the jilted lover.
