On Wednesday, Delhi’s Ramjas College bore ugly scenes as violent members of the ABVP, the student wing of the RSS, launched all-out attack against the students, owing allegiance to the left-leaning AISA.
Delhi Police, whose officials were seen colluding with the ABVP in assaulting AISA students and some members of the Indian media, too came for public condemnation.
It’s not surprising why the issue of Ramjas college was hotly debated in the immediate aftermath of the violence.
NDTV too was quick to conduct a debate on the topic with the channel’s anchor Nidhi Razdan being joined by JNU’s Shehla Rashid and the RSS’s Rakesh Sinha among others.
Soon, the debate became incredibly tense and Sinha decided to walk out of the show after Rashid called him a liar and addressed him as a “shameless person”.
Sinha, an RSS ideologue, has been a frequent guest on Indian TV channels. Although, most channels desperately seek to project him as an independent scholar, he’s often seen as flying the flag for the BJP and the RSS.
Although Sinha is known for his calm response, on this occasion it seems Rashid did succeed in getting the worst out of him.
