Former Pakistani cricket team captain Shahid Afridi was known for his explosive batting and even held the world record for scoring the fastest One Day International century.
His batting prowess made him the darling of almost every cricket fan regardless of which team one supported. The cricketer, who’s now retired from first class cricket, is currently in Switzerland to take part in the inaugural edition of the St Moritz Ice Cricket. Also joining him there are Shoaib Akhter, Sri Lanka’s Mahila Jayawardene and South Africa’s Jacques Kallis.
The second match was played between Palace Diamonds and Royals, led by Virender Sehwag and Afridi respectively. Afridi happily obliged fans for photos after the second match. However, when he walked to the Indian fans holding the national flag, he asked them to hold the flag properly. This gesture from a Pakistani cricketer has left Indian fans utterly moved. His incredible gesture towards the Indian national flag also assumes significance in light of the Hindutva brigade’s hate campaign to polarise people by promoting hatred towards Pakistan and its people.
Here is how fans reacted to Afridi’s gesture towards the national flag of India.
