The arrested man, identified as Shabbirpur resident Sachin, is the second accused in the case, they said.

The other accused, Akash, has already been arrested, Additional Superintendent of Police Vidya Sagar Mishra said.

On May 5, a Dalit group in Shabbirpur village had objected to a procession of Thakurs to mark the birth anniversary of Rajput king Maharana Pratap, triggering violence, in which one person was killed and over 15 were injured.

Meanwhile, he said, Badgaon police today recovered a 315 bore pistol from a mango orchard on Malhipur road here.

The search was conducted on directions from Sudhir, who is accused in the killing of the Ashish during the violence in Shabbirppur.

After the weapon was recovered, Sudhir was produced in the court which sent him to jail, the officer said.
